1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Practical glam with a bit of modern. I love pieces that add some luxury to your everyday life, and I believe everyone deserves some gold!
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Every project has to be functional according to the client’s needs. From there, I always go with the ideal most beautiful selection of pieces – even if they are unaffordable – and then try to find similar ones based on our budget and timeframe.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Design should be fun, but sometimes it’s difficult to take risks! Wallpaper, statement pieces, or gloss paint can make a huge difference in a room. I admire designers who go far with their ideas. Christine Dovey is my absolute favorite. Her style is unmistakable, full of glam and unique fun pieces. Her designs tell a story in a whimsical way, and that’s worth living with. She’s a huge inspiration to me.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I look for inspiration everywhere and all the time. We are so lucky to have access to new media. Pinterest, Instagram and Blogs are fantastic sources for daily inspiration. This is how Splendor Styling started!
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Perseverance. As a business owner I’ve learn that no matter what you have to show up everyday, do your best, make mistakes and try again. My advice is to start NOW. If you wait for the situation to be perfect it would never happen. Start small. Make lists and schedule your own time. Be your own boss.
