Generally, yes, in most instances it is recommended that curtains touch the floor. This makes sure that you have total light control and privacy but also looks stylish and elegant. It is not a necessity. however, for curtains to touch the floor and it may vary based on your personal preferences, window height and room.
For example, it is best practice for curtains to touch the floor in living rooms, where there are large windows – however in bedrooms with smaller windows this may not look right and instead curtains may only cover the window length.
There are different ways your curtains can block out the cold. Firstly, by choosing a good quality curtain lining you can help to insulate your room as well as keep unwanted sunlight out and maintain privacy. Blackout curtains are also great for this.
