1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My own style is modern with a hint of tradition. I like to use a super neutral colour palette when I decorate and I add depth through clever use of black. Artwork should be the star of the show!
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I spend a lot of time getting to know my client and how they want to live in their home. What works well and what doesn’t for them. I also believe that their personality should shape the space and tell their story not mine!
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
I’ve worked with many creative people it’s hard to pick just one. I rely on my suppliers to be my sounding board. They constantly add a new dimension to a design that I might not have thought of. I especially enjoy dealing with my showroom manager at Designer Rugs in Sydney, Australia.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
Nature, when I’m feeling a block and can’t quite get there with something I turn to nature. Taking inspiration through natural forms and colours is the best way to go. Go for a walk, take a break and look out at the view from the apartment, keep fresh flowers and plans in the home, these are all things that work for me.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
A passion to affect how people live in their spaces. I wanted to bring beautiful design to the lives of others, and transform how they felt about their home. I truly do believe that home is sanctuary and so it’s there to be enjoyed. Advice for others? Well that’s easy focus on delivering the best possible experience and service to your clients, and always make friends with your suppliers. For me this has been a winning formula.
