1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
I love playing with organic elements – patterns that are not a specific image, but rather designs that evoke an impression or feeling.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I work with interior designers so am often completing the vision that they may have for a room. My favourite way to start is with words that describe a feeling that the space needs to impart.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
William Sofield of Studio Sofield, New York, is amazing. He pushes the design envelope every time. I love the challenge of collaborating with him to come up with unique floor coverings solutions for the spaces he designs. Recently, my Creative Matters team and I created a rug based on a deco reference in 100% silk that arose from such a collaboration. Amazing.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I love working with my hands to get the creative juices flowing. I host regular “art days” so my team and I can step away from our computers to paint, draw, print or craft.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Sounds cliché, but I truly believe in following your passion. I have always loved textiles so working in a world of fabrics, wool yarns and silks, as well as with wonderful craftspeople all over the world who follow my designs through to completion has been a true joy.
