1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
A mixture of English, Country, British Colonial with a lot of white, clean lines and pops of color.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
First, I look at the big picture and target a main style, taking into consideration that I will be deviating to mix and matching other styles in . Then I select the main colors OR values and I stick with them through out the entire house.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Easy. My mother, Lee Bogart. She was a NY Interior Designer and taught me the basics of design from as far back as I can remember. She didn't believe in creating a cookie cutter space, but creating through evolution and layers. Once the basics were established, she searched and traveled around the world finding the right pieces and accessories for each job, some of which took years to finish. I was lucky enough to go with her and learn.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
Travel and learning from museums, decorating shops and trade shows totally inspires me. When you see what people are doing or have done, it gets the creative juices flowing.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Even though I had a BFA in Fine Arts, a background in Interior Design and a Certificate Degree from NYU in filmmaker, when I was given the opportunity work in the magazine industry, I found myself apprenticing for two years to learn how to produce and style homes for photo shoots, write the articles and deal with home owners on a professional level. All of that experience brought me to creating The Daily Basics which is a lifestyle website focusing on Home, Food, Entertaining and Travel. I don't know if anyone would want to follow in my footsteps, but my only advice is education, education, education and focus on your dreams and go for them.
