Dave Masin is the fourth generation of Masins Furniture, a company that was founded by his family in 1927. Their company serves the Pacific Northwest, providing the finest home furnishings crafted by award-winning accredited interior designers. Dave and his team offer superior merchandise and exceptional service to all of their customers. 1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Masins is a full service retail showroom and design firm, which offers a diverse range of style offerings from many of the world’s top manufacturers. While our design aesthetic has a regional preference for Northwest transitional style, our projects range from classically traditional to cutting-edge contemporary.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Masins has a staff of 10 accredited interior designers who work with clients throughout the design process. An initial consultation in the showroom to gain perspective into the needs of the client addresses topics such as space, style preference, and functional requirements. Next, a space plan and product selection is presented. This includes furniture and fabrics, as well as detailed floor plans. Additional selections such as color, lighting, flooring, window treatments, accessories, and artwork are often included.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Masins is fortunate to represent many highly respected designer furniture, accessory and fabric lines, and has worked closely with several internationally acclaimed interior designers on the launch of their products in the Northwestern US region. We have hosted many top designers in our store for seminars and product presentations, including Thom Filicia, Tobi Fairley and Alexa Hampton. In addition, we held a book-signing reception for Barbara Barry’s “Around Beauty,” and Earl Charles Spencer for the US launch tour of the “Althorp” collection by Theodore Alexander.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I am most inspired by the immense beauty of Seattle and the great Northwest. From the scenic Pacific coast, to shimmering lakes, rugged mountains and bustling urban vistas, the region is vibrant and inspiring.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
I am the fourth generation of Masins Furniture. My great grandfather founded the dry goods store in the Pioneer days of Seattle that would grow into the region’s largest luxury furniture and design retailer. I have worked with my grandfather, and my father is still very active in the day to day operations of the store. Mutual respect and admiration are the cornerstone of our business relationship, which translates to our customer service philosophy.
