1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My work is very detailed and intricate and very much inspired by the techniques of the French Toiles. I do try to mix the classic with the modern.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Brief details, research, initial drawing, editing scanned in drawings with Photoshop and then lots of playing around with colour/detail.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
I've worked with Timorous Beasties back in 2008 and found them and their work really inspiring. This is when I fell in love with the toile and intricate pattern. It was a fantastic opportunity to see how a successful screen-printing design studio was run. Beautiful!
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I find inspiration everywhere and see patterns everywhere too. Sometimes I get information overload and my brain then starts to procrastinate.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Determination. I've gone through quite a few different career paths but surface pattern design is still the one that I come back to. My advise is to keep at what you love doing. Hard work always pays off! And keep focused!
