Eleni Psyllaki is a freelance architect and interior designer, sharing her inspirations and motivations on her blog, My Paradissi. Based in Heraklion, Crete, Eleni has spent over 10 years studying architecture all over Greece, including Athens. She began blogging at My Paradissi in 2010 to create a journal of design inspiration for herself and for her readers. Since then her blog has become her iconic paradise. 1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Love casual, modern country, sleek and de-cluttered design, with scandinavian references, bright, natural or gray hues and subtle industrial touches.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I start by putting down all the challenges of the project, which I then try to solve like a mathematical puzzle. Then, I create moodboards for inspiration and start the creative process.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
My ex boss, which I had the pleasure of working with many years ago, in my first job as an architect. She is a woman, my age, with a kind and intuitive spirit, a great eye for style, a love for the details and a hard worker.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I like to browse through favorite blogs and sites of people I admire and look up too. Seeing them achieving great things fuels my motivation to work harder and, as a consequence, inspiration then follows.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Work, work, work, studying, questioning, trying, networking and lots of patience. As it seems, all things take time, so it’s better one loves what they choose to do otherwise they’ll never have the energy and motivation it takes to succeed.
