1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My style is all about colour and pattern. I love decorative patterns as they infuse so much life into a room as a larger piece, such as a sofa or a chair or with accessories such as cushions and lampshades. Have some fun with it too!
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
We choose a design because of the story behind then we play with a colour palette , see how the design looks and whether it has the feel we are after and finally we might try out different scales depending on how we are going to sue the design i.e. wallpaper or lampshade.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
My husband as he is always my inspiration and usually sees things in a different way , often he will see a design which is ahead of its time which I may have missed. He is also a very positive person and pushes me to face new ways of doing things.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
Colour and stories really work for me and that hooks me whether it is outside in rural Oxfordshire where my studio is, or in Spain, where we have family and friends, we visit Malaga a lot, which has a very different light and that also affects colours in a new way.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
I run my business on instinct most of the time and it is so much about people and whether you think you can work together. I believe that collaboration is the only way forward and to support each other. You need lots of perseverance and in the face of adversity, have to stand true to what you believe so as not to dilute your brand. Many hours of work so you have to love what you do!
