1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My focus on design combines the elements of beauty and function with a sustainable, healthy environment. Eliminating harsh chemicals and toxins and maintaining good indoor air quality are an essential process in my aesthetic.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I believe that an open, trusting relationship between people is done by thoughtful communication. Listening, REALLY listening to your client and their needs is at least half of the process.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
I admire anyone who has a passion for their work, whether it’s design or not. Creativity comes from the soul, and can’t be learned. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many creative people, and the most important thing any of them ever taught me was to be true to myself and NEVER compromise on your creativity. This has always been my mantra, and has served me well.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
The natural world brings us abundance and beauty. Inspiration and beauty are everywhere. All you have to do is open your eyes. I can get inspiration from a rusty fence !
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
My career is ongoing, and the journey so far has been one of great joy. I have forged many wonderful relationships along the way. The success in my career comes from knowing that I’ve given my clients the homes they’ve wanted, and their happiness and comfort is my reward. If, in the process, I have saved some of our planet’s precious resources to pass on to future generations, it doesn’t get any better than that.
