1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Holistic Approach rather than a specific style. As an architect I create on a large scale. As a designer I focus on the details. My aesthetic evolves continuously and adapts to each client’s style.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
I listen, ask questions, research and listen again. I use my own library plus new trends, adding spice to the puzzle, grouping options that communicate and convey the emotions I want to get from my clients.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
It’s difficult to chose one, but it’s my husband’s creative mind that I respect and admire the most. He’s an architect dedicated to building. Every decision he makes is based on a balance between form, function, schedule, and budget. During the design process I base my creative decisions on those key aspects. He always reminds me that keeping balance is key in creating a beautiful design experience for my clients.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I’m a frustrated dancer, so dancing is my outlet for inspiration. It helps relax the mind, allowing ideas to flow. Dancing plus the art of listening do the trick for me.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Passion has brought me to this point, giving me discipline and patience, waiting for right opportunities, then going for them. My husband and I have created an amazing team. My advice is to make sure you LOVE what you do. That’s the fuel needed to overcome many challenges out there.
