1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
My style and aesthetic is a modern interpretation of florals and nature through color and expressive paint. My designs can be found on wall art, home goods and fabric.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Before I start a project I contemplate the direction and create mental visual scenarios. I don't sketch before I paint so it's important for me to feel the mood before starting.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Working with Disney Consumer Products in California was an amazing experience. It opened many doors for me. I was surrounded by incredible talent. It pushed me to do my very best to create products that would sell. They also represent many brands so it enabled me to work in a few different styles.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I go outside for inspiration. Beauty in nature gives a color story and form that varies depending upon the season or weather. The organic shapes of shadows supply ideas behind composition.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Drive and passion brought me to this point. I love to create art that captures a mood and creates conversation. I enjoy participating in various indie art/craft shows so I can meet the customers directly and hear why a piece of art draws them in. My advice to artists would be to believe in yourself and enjoy the journey.
