So we are pleased to share with you the creative trends of Delali Foli.
1) What pieces of furniture have impressed you recently? And Why?
I’m all about storage so am very drawn to pieces that are functional, make good use of space but still look good. I also love classic pieces of furniture paired with unexpected materials, like a mid-century chair reupholstered in Ankara fabric.
2) What colours are on trend right now? And Why?
There are various opinions as to what colours we should all be using and they change all the time - but I tend to gravitate towards brighter pastels like turquoise and coral. I find deep blues, and rich purple very luxurious and though some might be tired of it, I’ll always love grey, it’s my ‘go to’ neutral.
3) What types of materials are on trend right now? And Why?
Copper is being used in really interesting ways at the moment, while brass provides a similar aesthetic, but for people who might prefer more a rougher or unfinished look. Wood continues to be popular and is regularly being used with man-made materials for a great contrast. Though not technically a material, plants / foliage are a real feature in schemes these days - long may that continue!
4) Which of your projects embodies the latest design trend? And why?
As people are embracing bolder statements and using more colour in their homes, the use of colour, prints and textures extends into the work I do for clients who enjoy brighter colours and strong looks. For personal projects, pieces I make, and in creating vignettes for styling shoots I tend to incorporate my love of globally influenced design especially West African fabrics - such design and styling as can be seen coming out of many high fashion houses and contemporary homewares ranges.
