1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
Whether staging a home for sale or decorating a space to be lived in, I love to start with a neutral palette and then layer in colors, patterns, and textures.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
No two jobs are the same; I let the home tell me what it needs. Sometimes it’s as simple as decluttering; other times, it’s a full scale renovation.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
My friends open my eyes to new perspectives, which can be a transforming experience. This has happened reading an unexpected turn of phrase in the poetry of a close friend, marveling over the surprising use of color in a landscape painting of another friend…or talking to my best friend who is chemist; I am inspired by the beauty and order she finds in the dance of electrons.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
I am inspired by the energy of my clients; their excitement and anticipation fuels me. For staging clients, I never forget that our goal is to sell their home for maximum profit in minimal time.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
When I was a little girl I would occasionally spend weekend afternoons rearranging my bedroom; slowly scooting heavy furniture across the floor and adjusting accessories until the space felt fresh and vibrant. That was the beginning of my career; I took a few detours along the way to get where I am. I’d advise others, no matter what their field, to be honest about what their passions truly are and make time to pursue them.
