Josh Seddon is web manager & part of the content team at Kontenta, the online retailer of designer furniture. The company was formed over 12 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2011 that they started to establish their online presence. They have now become one of the UK’s largest retailers of designer furniture. Josh writes content for their blog on a range of topics from design ideas and inspiration to DIY tutorials. So we are proud to bring you the Designer Insights of Josh Seddon.

1) In your own words describe your unique style and creative aesthetic?
I have always drawn huge interest in contemporary designs, I'm a fan of simple lines and unique styles. Less is more, few and well chosen pieces add drama without detracting from the streamlined feel.
2) When starting a new project, what is your creative process?
Market research and advice from experts who have already discovered similar experiences. Test the water and consider the realistic ROI through market research. Plan, develop and execute.
3) Out of the creative people you have worked with, who is it that you respect and admire the most?
Tony Miles is one of the most influential designers we have worked with, his bespoke designs are industrial, contemporary and simplistic. The pieces blend the strength of industrial products with basic functionality to create a bold object of interest. Tony's designs are handmade with steel tubing, which is bent into various shapes which were also showcased in the Big Brother House.
4) When looking for inspiration is there a particular thing you do to get inspired?
Pinterest is a very handy Social Media platform that never fails to inspire me, it's very easy to access different styles of design and to then share with our customers.
5) What has brought you to this point in your career? And what is your advice for people looking to follow in your footsteps?
Surround yourself with positive people and take advice from the people that matter. Set yourself high goals and pursue the career you enjoy most. Obstacles will appear throughout life, and it's important to stay positive and fight for your ambitions, with hard work, dedication and focus, you will achieve great things.
